In Shitoryu Karate, students progress through a series of belt levels, starting from the White Belt (beginner) and advancing all the way to the Black Belt (mastery). There are 7 levels between White and Black, each representing a student’s growth in skill and understanding of Karate.
Belt tests are conducted every 6 months. Students are evaluated on their technical skills, Kumite (sparring), and theoretical knowledge. However, the decision to test a student is at the discretion of the school and parents, based on readiness and consistent training.
Although it’s optional, participating in regular tests is beneficial for students. It keeps them motivated and offers a clear path of progression. Each new belt earned is a recognition of their hard work, helping them build confidence and stay focused on their ultimate goal: the Black Belt.
Achieving the Black Belt is a symbol of mastery and personal growth. It marks the beginning of a deeper commitment to Karate, with Black Belt holders expected to continue learning, teach others, and embody the spirit of discipline, respect, and perseverance
