ULTIMATE SPORTS & MARTIAL ARTS ( BELT EXAM )

The Belt System in Shitoryu Karate: From White to Black Belt

In Shitoryu Karate, students progress through a series of belt levels, starting from the White Belt (beginner) and advancing all the way to the Black Belt (mastery). There are 7 levels between White and Black, each representing a student’s growth in skill and understanding of Karate.

(USMA) Shito Ryu Karate Belt Level.

  • White Belt: The starting point, where students learn the basics.

  • Yellow Belt: The first step beyond the basics, focusing on refining techniques.

  • Green Belt: Students develop more advanced techniques and begin to engage in deeper theory.

  • Blue 1st Belt: A higher level of precision and fluidity in techniques, along with a stronger understanding of Karate.

  • Blue 2nd Belt:  Developing better control on techniques.

  • Brown Belt: Students master advanced techniques and Katas, preparing for Black Belt.

  • Black Belt: The culmination of years of training, symbolizing mastery and the beginning of a deeper journey in Karate.

  • Black Belt 1st Degree to Black Belt 10th Degree ( Not Mandatory )

Testing and Evaluation

Belt tests are conducted every 6 months. Students are evaluated on their technical skills, Kumite (sparring), and theoretical knowledge. However, the decision to test a student is at the discretion of the school and parents, based on readiness and consistent training.

The Importance of Regular Testing

Although it’s optional, participating in regular tests is beneficial for students. It keeps them motivated and offers a clear path of progression. Each new belt earned is a recognition of their hard work, helping them build confidence and stay focused on their ultimate goal: the Black Belt.

The Black Belt: Last but not least

Achieving the Black Belt is a symbol of mastery and personal growth. It marks the beginning of a deeper commitment to Karate, with Black Belt holders expected to continue learning, teach others, and embody the spirit of discipline, respect, and perseverance
